[Maise's_Gallery_of_Bad_Fan_Art: Iris's_First_Exhibition]

Hey, everyone! Another week, another exhibition in our Gallery of Bad Fan Art! Except nothing that our Iris has sent me could ever be classified as "bad." OMG, she fucking rocks, AND she's more prolific than all of Andy Warhol's Factory! (Not to mention the fact that she did these all herself, without the assistance of drug addicts, drag queens, porn actors and other superstars.) Logos, album covers, portraits, video screen shots...it's all here! I couldn't be prouder of our Iris...and I can't wait to show you what's she's made. So enough intro...check this shit out!

[Pens_Paint_Pasta_and_Programs: Multimedia_NIN] (artwork and captions by Iris)

And everyone...don't forget to send me YOUR fan art!!!

Of course, I had to fix a million little things after the fact, but we should be all good now...excellent work, Iris!

Shit, Iris -- you're actually really good. That's fucking awesome stuff.

I think you should do a picture of Rockstar: Supernova's Ryan Star -- as he is OBVIOUSLY the new Trent Reznor -- next.

Posted by: Gabriel | Aug 27, 2006 8:35:25 PM

What can I say, Iris. I bow down before you. You fucking rule. Without your tireless and awesome contributions around here, we would suck so much more than we do.

That goes for you, too, Maise. Thank God you came back from the dead to offer Trent some love.

I especially love the Perfect Drug ones!!

Posted by: Dierdre | Aug 27, 2006 8:37:45 PM

I know! I think the one of him on the pedestal with the dog is my favorite...tied with the Closer video drawing.

Posted by: maise | Aug 27, 2006 8:41:02 PM

Oh Gabriel, if only we had gotten your Rockstar Supernova application in on time, you would have WON, and then it would only have been a matter of time before we could have made MILLIONS on your sex tape with Tommy Lee. Alas.

Posted by: maise | Aug 27, 2006 8:44:19 PM

Awe, thanks guys! When I originally started the first doodle I had no intention to make this many things. But it turns out that once you get going it’s a lot of fun! And in my defense (so I don’t look like a total loser who has no life) this was a very stressful work week and coming home to work on this let me forget about all that bullshit. So for those who haven’t given this a shot yet...Get crackin’! I want to see your stuff too!

¡Viva la “bad art”!

Oh and PS, Gabriel. Fuck Ryan Star. He may be a pissy, attempting to be over controlling little bitch but he's no Trent Reznor. And Dilana is so going to win that shit.

And PPS, Dierdre. This site is worlds away from suck. I love it here and would be genuinely heartbroken if it went away.

All I can say is WOW! You are very creative and talented. I loved your gallery. Seriously I am going to try to get something going with whatever "artistic ability " I have. What I think is the great part is that you had fun making it. Now I want to have some also. Now all I need to do is figure out how to work my scanner!

Posted by: clara | Aug 27, 2006 9:24:10 PM

All bitchiness aside Clara, I really can't wait to see what you come up with. I'm telling you once you get that first one done you think of about three other things that you want to have a go at. I think this is one of the best in between records projects you guys could have come up with. I think everyone ought to bust out the instruction manuals to their scanners and give up something!

Posted by: Iris | Aug 27, 2006 11:15:52 PM

I am totally impressed! I wish I had even a thimble full of talent like yours! However, I did go to that website provided on the last page. It was interesting.. I ended up playing around on it for about an hour. Keep up the good work guys!

My favorite thing is Trent's hair in the halo pic...looks like you used coffee grounds. Also love the rotini logo.

Posted by: JR | Aug 28, 2006 8:54:51 AM

HA! No, no coffee grounds were used in that picture or any of the other pictures for that matter. I don’t think that would have fared well on my scanner. Trent’s hair in that one took me the longest and I just used an ink pen for it. Draw a little bit of the face, then dot.dot.dot. with the hair, draw a little of the rainbow, dot.dot.dot. the hair, give him a hook nose...curse a lot...decide well shit, can’t start over now because I’ve got too much dotted hair that I don’t feel like redoing.

Although a sepia toned picture using coffee sounds pretty batshit fun, you know. Hmmm...you might have just given me another idea JR. Maybe something else from the “Closer” video. lol. You guys can have me carted away any time now.

Posted by: Iris | Aug 28, 2006 9:46:59 AM

Oh, you've GOT to do something coffee/sepia toned from closer. I'm sensing multimedia collage--got any seashells that can approximate a nautilus? Some netting--maybe one of those crocheted shopping bags--that can approximate that awful shirt thing he was wearing? Pig's head? Apple?

Gee, maybe I should do it. Maybe we can have a multi-media Closer collage smack down.

Posted by: JR | Aug 28, 2006 10:15:14 AM

JR, I *highly* encourage you to take on such a project and send it to me!

Posted by: maise | Aug 28, 2006 10:56:19 AM

Well JR there is this hog refinement place a ways north of here but I don’t think they’d be too keen on me waltzing up and asking for a hog’s head and they’d be even less inclined if I tried explaining what I was going to use it for. And what the hell would my garbage man think when I eventually had to toss it? So you just knock yourself out with the three dimensional art, mmm’kay? I'm all for whatever crazy things you can do so hop to it lady!

Posted by: Iris | Aug 28, 2006 11:37:52 AM

Kids, don't forget the media of sculpture, ceramics, needlework, quilting, and painting on black velvet!

Posted by: maise | Aug 28, 2006 2:16:55 PM

Iris,
I can't tell you how much that made my day! I really enjoyed your art. Do you think I could get some prints of your Perfect Drug collection? I will pay whatever costs are incurred. They really are wonderful.

As much as I loved Iris' work, and her subject, can I just say how painful that era of Trent is for me? He looks like such a fool, and the inspiration pic just turns my stomach. I can't stand him with the long hair and the goatee. Ick.

Posted by: JR | Aug 28, 2006 8:18:31 PM

Ick, ick, ick, ick, ick, ick.

Posted by: JR | Aug 28, 2006 8:20:00 PM

Whaaaaaa???? I mean, everyone has his/her own taste, but what???? I LOVED "Perfect Drug" Trent. Loved, loved, loved. OMG, Perfect Drug Trent in all his La Belle Epoque glory. One of his hottest manifestations, in my opinion, but then, that's probably one of my favorite historical eras (after the 1920s-1930s). It's probably Mark Romanek I'm deeply in love with, but I don't care. Trent was so smoking fucking hot in that video, especially when he's shivering in that cold room with the ice pick. God. Damn.

Posted by: maise | Aug 28, 2006 8:28:46 PM

Maise, with all due respect, I'm gonna hurl.

I just watched the "Perfect Drug" video on You Tube to make sure there wasn't something I was missing. All I get is Trent looking skanky. And nerdy.

Now, this is hardly the only time in his career--or the arc of his various looks--that he has looked skanky or nerdy, or both at the same time, but ohmigod I hate this look. He seems like he is trying harder at this point than at any other point in his career and it makes my flesh crawl. He almost looks to me more like a fan of NIN that is trying to look "cool".

He needs to shave that face. It's a personal thing but I just can't tolerate facial hair, very much less a pointy goatee. My men gotta be clean shaven.

And he needs to NEVER PICK UP A SWORD AGAIN. I feel like I've been made to watch him do some kind of battle in some sort of renaissance faire or something. And I want to find a rock to crawl under.

I had more negative comments to add, but I deleted them. No sense beating a dead horse. Suffice to say, I HATE THIS TRENT!

Posted by: JR | Aug 28, 2006 8:55:06 PM

And I got a little carried away with the bold in the following paragraph:

He needs to shave that face. It's a personal thing but I just can't tolerate facial hair, very much less a pointy goatee. My men gotta be clean shaven.

I didn't need to make *that* much of a point about how I feel about facial hair.

Also: Trent looks in this video like the kind of dude who would work in a video store, drink Mountain Dew and drive his grandma's old Buick. Not that there is anything wrong with any of those things, but it doesn't get me even close to hot.

Wow, I was WAY more long-winded with this point than I intended to be.

Posted by: JR | Aug 28, 2006 9:00:15 PM

Now, this or especially this, whew. Is it getting hot in here?

Posted by: JR | Aug 28, 2006 9:10:11 PM

Also: Trent looks in this video like the kind of dude who would work in a video store, drink Mountain Dew and drive his grandma's old Buick.

JR, what the fucking fuck?

What on earth could possibly be sexier than Trent looking like Alfred Jarry or Erik Satie, sitting in some gloomy Gorey-esque house, drinking his absinthe and pining away after some dead can-can dancer or whatever his problem is? I want him to rip my corset in his eternal despair.

Posted by: maise | Aug 28, 2006 9:11:19 PM

Oh, come on, you know it's true. I know I'll hear no end of it, since I think I'm the only one who doesn't fancy this era of Trent AT ALL, but he really does look like some video store dude.

Posted by: JR | Aug 28, 2006 9:17:05 PM

Maise, sweetie, I think you're tops, but I rest my case.
