Sweet Jesus Holy Fucking Christ, I'm so not kidding.

Have you checked out that latest scrummy goodness in the current photo department of nin.com? No? Well, lemme help you out with that:

6_07_06

People, this picture is not only NUCLEAR WEAPONS GRADE HOT, and a rare actual picture of Trent Reznor, but goddammit, I hope you all know that Peter Murphy is the fucking nazz, man. Apparently, this picture is from a live radio set performed by these two total rockstars, and there will be more of them, as detailed in the newest textual entry on nin.com's current page. I hope I don't have to tell you that that is CRAZY cool.

Last year, when that turncoat bitch Gabriel and I went to Coachella to see a certain someone for the first time in what seemed like FOREVER, we saw Peter Murphy and Bauhaus rock and vamp through the best fucking set on the mainstage the entire weekend. I, Dierdre Keating, include Nine Inch Nails in that assessment, and place them firmly in the category of bands that could not touch Bauhaus that weekend.

Yes, that's right.

Not only did Bauhaus deliver a tight, knock-out set, chock-loaded with total classics of the night, like the magnificent unflinching Gothfathers they are, but Murphy performed the entirity of "Bela Lugosi is Dead" HANGING UPSIDE DOWN LIKE A BAT. I cannot overstate to you how much that guy kicks motherfucking ass.

Sparklepants, You've come a long way, baby, haven't you? Additionally: YOU ARE DELICIOUS.

The only thing I can say is that Trent better not go back into hiding after all this tour stuff is over. All this exposure he's giving has spoiled us quiet a bit.

Posted by: Iris | Jun 7, 2006 11:13:38 PM

That's ALL you can say? Did you not SEE TRENT IN THIS PICTURE, Iris?

Posted by: Dierdre | Jun 7, 2006 11:43:24 PM

Dierdre, thank you for your warm welcome the other day!
I have managed to sum up the courage to write again!!

It was a good day! I actually managed to hear the Pete Murphy/Trent Reznor set. Did anyone else?
Head Like a Hole - a very slowed down gothic version
Sanity Assassin
Hurt
I wanted more!! And then the picture on NIN site just finsihed me off for the rest of the day!!

Posted by: Mishina | Jun 8, 2006 5:36:12 AM

Yeah, I came too, When I heard it. Jesus. The coolness. That shit was dreamy. Trent singing "Sanity Assassin" was ridiculously brilliant.

Anyone looking to hear this dreamy, dreamy shit can find numerous download links on ETS. I guess they're good for something. Plus, thought you all might like to know that L'orangerie Stank made an appearance in that thread...

Posted by: Jane | Jun 8, 2006 6:41:12 AM

Get out! I miss the Stank.

I'll definitely have to download it when I get home...

I don't know how Trent's going to help solve global warming when he's that fucking ho...

No, I can't even finish that sentence.

Posted by: maise | Jun 8, 2006 7:05:44 AM

Well it seems to me that we each have two choices. I could a. go all doe eyes and prattle on about how much this picture leaves me breathless at the combination of such talents… (which must be great if it was posted under the OMFGIJustCame heading) Or b. cower and shamefully admit that I really don’t know who Peter Murphy is. **hides under desk**

Then you (as a group or just D) could a. befoul my name with insults and slurs (possibly in languages I don’t know), throw rotten fruit, ground me from the site for two weeks, take my tickets away to my show, and kick my dog… Or b. You could tell me what the hell I’ve been missing out on all these years and I can try to redeem myself. There you have it folks.

And I will be checking out those links, amongst several other web searches on Peter Murphy, when I’m in a more discrete place. Sorry guys!

Posted by: Iris | Jun 8, 2006 7:06:56 AM

It's okay, Iris. I won't take you to task. Peter Murphy is the lead singer of Bauhaus, and he's goth-tastic.

I bet you've heard one of his solo songs, "Cuts You Up." That was a big hit back in the day, and I get all excited when I hear it on my online radio.

I can't wait to hear this performance...I don't think I'll be able to download it at work, though, because I'm fairly certain I don't have the programs to make it work, and I don't really want to be installing anything on here that is egregiously non-work-related.

Posted by: maise | Jun 8, 2006 7:17:16 AM

I, and my dog, thank you for being kind Maise.

Posted by: Iris | Jun 8, 2006 7:43:03 AM

Maise, that unfinished sentence ruled ass. I busted a gut. I'm going to totally ask Gabriel to webmaster that shit up into our masthead.

Iris, I'm afraid that if you don't know who Peter Murphy is, then you are going to have to sit in the corner with the dunce cap on. Then, you need to download a FAT LOAD of Bauhaus songs. Peter Murphy and Bauhaus are to goth as the Beatles are to pop, and basically, they just fully BRING IT with the gothic theatricality and the gloomy, brooding songs. They work their angle to the absolute limit, and it is brilliant.

I was OBSESSED with Bauhaus back in the 80's, and believe it or not, they've only gotten better and more consummate in the interim.

Posted by: Dierdre | Jun 8, 2006 7:47:09 AM

...but, having said that, I hope you don't feel like I'm taking you to task. I actually envy you, dude: the experience of Bauhaus lies before you like a big, black, shiny wrapped up present, full of dark, gothic splendor.

Mazel tov!

I can't help but feel that the arrangement of his keyboards in this picture is a little awkward.

I think I'm going to write a book...Physical Ergonomics for Rock Stars.

Posted by: maise | Jun 8, 2006 10:45:55 AM

Dude, forget that. I like to see Trent in awkward positions.

Mean Maise. A haiku by Iris

You would be that mean
teacher who raps knuckles with
a wooden ruler.

Continuously
chanting “Now posture, posture,
posture. Don’t slouch.” *Crack*

Daydreaming. A haiku by Iris

Arms criss-crossed like that
must create some wicked man
cleavage. I’m guessing.

In Praise of Iris's Last Haiku
a haiku by Dierdre

Iris, that thing just
now, about the man cleavage?
Comedy gold, man.

Clarification, a haiku by maise

Tho' I spent twelve years
in Catholic school, I'm no
ruler-wielding nun.

Furthermore, a haiku by maise

I'm only concerned
that Trent might experience
some carpal tunnel.

Posted by: maise | Jun 8, 2006 12:36:31 PM

When I think of "man cleavage," for some reason I am reminded of that recent pic where Trent is all half-naked and looking ambiguous. Some people really enjoy that one, but it makes me feel very "Ack! I didn't know you were in here...sorry, sorry...[slowly backing out of room]...I'll just... close this door...sorry..."

Posted by: maise | Jun 8, 2006 12:45:13 PM

So I guess to balance out the Greenland-melting hotness of yesterday's pic (6/7), they put up a strange and unflattering one today (6/8).

Posted by: maise | Jun 8, 2006 9:10:04 PM

HA! But if you check out the photos on frc from the Atlanta show, there's one where you're basically looking up Aaron's nostrils. Nice.

Posted by: maise | Jun 8, 2006 9:12:44 PM

He looks like Fred Flintstone in that new pic.

Posted by: Jane | Jun 8, 2006 10:38:12 PM

Good evening everyone
I have to admit that I'd like to see more Trent knee. I don't know nuts about Bauhaus either, and I was around in that decade. I'll be seeing them in about two weeks if it all goes as planned.

Posted by: chrise | Jun 9, 2006 5:34:34 PM

Ack, I can't seem to be able to open any of the download links for this performance that were posted on ETS. My computer doesn't know what to do with them, and I don't either. Someone did a fan video for Sanity Assassin on YouTube, for which I'm extremely grateful, but now I want to hear more! Any suggestions?

Posted by: maise | Jun 10, 2006 8:14:24 AM

I too have never heard any Bauhaus or Peter Murphy(as far as I know). But I was born in the 80's, is that at least a partial excuse? If all goes according to plan I will be at several of the shows (and I'm super excited for Peaches). Has anyone read the latest buddyhead gossip? Aaron sounds like I might hate him in real life, but there's some funny stuff in there about the guys.

Posted by: RL | Jun 10, 2006 9:04:20 AM

Maise, I emailed those tracks to you as mp3's in three separate mails. I hope that doesn't kill your e-mail or anything...

Love,
Dierdre

Posted by: Dierdre | Jun 10, 2006 9:10:30 AM

Dierdre, you are too awesome...thanks so much! My computer is much less confused now.

As for Aaron, he seems like the kind of guy who would get into a bar fight with my gay best friend. The kind that ends in beer being thrown into the other's face, with each side having a completely different, bitchy story about the event.

Posted by: maise | Jun 10, 2006 9:32:38 AM

nin.com, pic 6/10:

What the HELL is going on there? Is Trent now like Atlas, bearing the onerous weight of Aaron? Or is he preparing to launch Aaron into the audience? Or has Aaron made some grievous acrobatic error and is now crashing into Trent, who can only duck and cover?

Given what we now know of Aaron's hygienic habits, I would avoid that sort of posture.
