[Call_&_Response_#_8]
Have you noticed the lull, you guys?
I guess with me feeling a quart low, Gabriel off on another one of his always productive quests for the fucking meaning of life, and Mimi consuming pastries by the oozingly suggestive dozens because she's upset at Gabriel (and Trent?!) for some reason of the heart that I can't fathom because I'm not French, things here at WTC have ground to a near halt.
It's not as if I'm not as enraptured as I ever have been by the way the hair sticks to Trent's delicious, sweaty chest, or that I don't imagine, night and fucking day, what his crazy, multi-directional fingers could do if strategically applied to my naked body. More importantly, it's not like I'm not as undone as ever by the strange alchemy that makes it possible for him to use rock firegod bombast and stagey histrionics to convey the soft, thoughtful, inner life of a remarkably interesting human man with devastating emotional verity and perfect focus, while rocking it with that hot, meaty little ass of his and the Lt. Jughead Reznor hairstyle that makes me want to lick every inch of his hot, hot rig.
I mean, VERILY, my friends, Trent Reznor is a very fucking sexy genius. I'm just so UNINSPIRED these days.
That's why I need you, dear readers. WTC is crying out for a good photo essay, n'est-ce pas? I need ideas. Help me out, people. Is there something we haven't scrutinized, probed, examined and fondly stroked with sufficient thoroughness? Favorite pictures we haven't cooed and gooed over with ample girlish enthusiasm? Details that need to be teased into the light and made to stand erect? In my wildest fantasies, each of you will send me your two favorite pictures of Trent, accompanied by super sexy, anatomically explicit haiku! Is that too much to ask?
Dear readers, WTC needs you! Ante up!

I'll be sure not to pick any picture that you've used in a photo essay. The captions you wrote for those pics pwn any haiku, at least in my mind. This, of course, is my own personal guideline.

Hmmmm...my favorite composition medium. Yes, I think that can be arranged...
Stay tuned.
Posted by: maise | Nov 28, 2005 2:38:51 PM
Oh god, not haikus again. D, you know I'm horrible with haikus.
Posted by: Kim | Nov 28, 2005 4:35:18 PM
You can do it, Kim! After a while, the old 5, 7, 5 becomes a reflex.
The best part of this project is that to obey Em's rule, I have to revisit the photo essays. :)
Posted by: maise | Nov 28, 2005 5:46:56 PM
Yeah, I think we should follow Em's example... but I'm kinda too lazy to find all the photo essays at the moment, heh.
Posted by: Kim | Nov 28, 2005 6:28:45 PM
Oh wait, nevermind... they're all in "pictures of you" right? hah. See, I really am lazy. :(
Posted by: Kim | Nov 28, 2005 6:31:36 PM
OK... I trust everyone's opinion here (except Dom's), and I'm bored so I was messing around in photoshop... no, not Trent/NIN related but yeah, who cares!
Which one looks better?
ONE
or
TWO
Posted by: Kim | Nov 28, 2005 8:08:50 PM
Wow, that's just like the eye doctor...better one? better two?
I vote for 1.
Posted by: maise | Nov 28, 2005 8:19:28 PM
Thank you Maise! I think I'll probably go with that one just because you can see more detail and I'm gonna do more stuff to it later.
And this is officially the weirdest expression I've ever seen Trent make. Not hottest, not sexiest, not scariest, but weirdest.
Posted by: Kim | Nov 28, 2005 8:35:03 PM
It's almost an expression of "ooo damn what's that smell...oh yea it's one of mine" Enjoy the odor, smell the fart acting.
Posted by: iris | Nov 28, 2005 10:19:33 PM
I'm on it, D. Check your inbox.
Posted by: Jane | Nov 28, 2005 11:05:30 PM
Kim, obviously, that expression says: "DUDES! I rock so fucking hard!" in a 70's "feel my my rock 'n roll power" kind of way. I agree that it's a weird face to see on Trent, but you know what? I think his inner cheesebag has really been emerging lately.
It's kinda cute, don't you think?
Posted by: Dierdre | Nov 29, 2005 1:18:02 AM
Of course it's cute. It made me giggle plenty, haha.

Before everyone jumps on the haiku bandwagon, just wanted to clarify that a haiku is more than just 5-7-5 (by the way, that would make a really weak fertilizer, in case anyone's interested in gardening). Here is a more accurate description of what a true traditional haiku entails:
"The pattern is no accident—alternating lines of 5 and 7 syllables have been part of Japanese poetry for over a thousand years. But there is much more to haiku than the 5-7-5 syllable count. For example, traditional Japanese haiku include a “season word,” or kigo, which indicates in which season the Haiku is set. For example, cherry blossoms indicate spring, snow indicate winter, and mosquitoes indicate summer, but the season word isn't always that obvious. Haikus try to convey a connection between Nature and human nature. They are often divided into 2 asymmetrical parts that do not make a complete sentence. They typically use simple language and present images with little or no commentary."
Happy Haikuing...hey Dierdre, maybe in the end, you can connect all of the haikus and make them into one haika!
Posted by: Buttercup | Nov 29, 2005 5:44:22 AM
What Buttercup says is absolutely true, Haiku fans, but don't be intimidated by her research! If you can achieve classic, Japanese Haiku convention, BY ALL MEANS, bring it. If not, 5-7-5 is absolutely fine, especially if they're DIRTY.
And, seriously: all you who are regulars around here, YOU BETTER GET ON IT. So far, only Maise has rocked it, and they totally cracked me up.
COME ON, PEOPLE. I need cheering up.

I have my pictures D but I just can't think of any haikus right now. :(
Posted by: Kim | Nov 29, 2005 6:36:22 AM
Once I get this pesky deadline out of the way, I'll be all over it.
(I really wanted to write a haiku, IN JAPANESE, about the pic of Trent in Japan. But since it was used in a past installment of PoY, I'd be breaking my own rule.)
Posted by: emerald527 | Nov 29, 2005 6:56:38 AM
Yes, plus, I daresay none of us would be able to enjoy it's brilliance if it were in Japanese...
Posted by: Dierdre | Nov 29, 2005 6:58:04 AM
Or you could just follow the conventions of what I like to call "the contemporary haiku," meaning that you stick with 5, 7, 5, forget the seasons, title it whatever the hell you want, and write something so banal, it's funny.
Posted by: maise | Nov 29, 2005 6:59:43 AM
And just to double check before I start killing my brain to think of some haikus, these pictures weren't ever used, were they?
Posted by: Kim | Nov 29, 2005 8:22:33 AM
No they weren't, Kim, and they are fucking awesome. That black and white one was my favorite for SO FUCKING LONG.
Damn, I love Trent.

In other news, this tour info page on the Depeche Mode website seems to put the rumor to bed that they are touring with NIN.
Personally, I'm relieved. I saw the Bowie/NIN tour in 1995, and I have to say that as much as David Bowie is pretty much the fucking awesomest thing EVER, it didn't do him and his horn section much good to follow a balls out Nine Inch Nails show. I felt like one act of that magnitude was more than enough in one night.
Also, I don't like to see Trent getting in on the oldies feel of it all. I mean, Depeche Mode had their heyday SO LONG AGO, and like everyone else who was a hip youngster in the 80's, I loved them, but, and I've heard their new record, I think they really do lack pertinence nowadays.
Maybe I'm just dreaming, here, but I like to hope Trent's best work is ahead of him. I can't say that I feel that's true of Depeche Mode. I hate to see him hitching his wagon to the "flashback lunch" express like that.
I'd much rather he took smaller bands and artists that might not get the time of day in the big way they deserve -- The Dresden Dolls, Saul Williams, Autolux -- and put them in front of his audience. I like to hope that if he didn't have to make it all about the biz, that's what he'd do...
Posted by: Jane | Nov 29, 2005 8:57:41 AM
All done, Dierdre. I had so much fun with that, I ended up doing a third one.
No depeche mode/nin tour? I would have enjoyed that thoroughly. I do agree with you Jane, it's better that he promote new acts to his audience. As opposed to me being psyched about the possibility of seeing Depeche Mode and Trent on the same stage, I think that much of NIN's fanbase, would not. Similer to Bowie, where there were two different fanbases going "who the fuck is that other guy?" and only a handful of people appreciating it. And as opposed to Bowie (who is still fucking rockin in my opinion), Depeche Mode does seem just a little too dated to tour with nine inch nails. I've also felt that with trent, the best is yet to come...
one can only hope.
I think he should have The Go! Team open for the next tour. That would fucking rock. I'm also aware of the fact that I am idiot...

Bah to you all...I'm still a DM believer. I really like the new album, and "Precious" is the best song they've come out with in YEARS. One person's "nostalgia act" is another person's "oh thank GOD they've come out with another album!" I wouldn't necessarily *need* them to tour with NIN, but the idea was appealing, especially if it resulted in a Trent/Dave Gahan duet of some sort.
I see what you're saying about not wanting Trent to turn into a nostalgia act, though. Really, I wanted to hold out hope for one of my best friends who suffered a PROFOUND Depeche Mode-related disappointment and cannot accompany me to the concert tonight. So sad. :(
Posted by: maise | Nov 29, 2005 9:54:53 AM
Nicole, did you send them to me, since you're done? I can't wait to read them, and so far, I have not recieved them...
I can only say that I CANNOT WAIT.
