[Just_An_Observation]
Yo folks -- so thought I'd poke my head in the door and say hello. Dierdre is in town visiting, and she and I are checking out the groovetastic Dresden Dolls show tonight at the Fonda (sorry to report, kids, I do prefer Amanda to Brian -- there's something about a woman grinding away on a piano bench that cannot be denied).
Anyway, we've got something special lined up... and it involves only The Greatest Rock Band Of All Time... but what, you ask? Well for that you'll have to wait...
Also, things are coming along quite well in Stankville. My move to L.A. went pretty flawless, I'm staying at a friends apartment for the moment but will be moving into my new place the first week of January, and some early changes are happening over at www.lorangeriestank.com. Just the first of many, to be assured.
So for now, I'd like you all to just sit back, relax, and listen... you hear that? It's the sound of no NIN news. No Trent Reznor babblings. No new song dementia, and most of all, no glabberhabbing about how the sucky elements of his recent work don't really suck, they're artistic choices instead.
In short, the Ninternet is pretty quiet (except for drunkpoet at ETS, who apparently months later STILL can't get over the fact that he spent a lot of money on a girl he didn't know and then got played when she dumped his ass and fucked around with some well-known bassist instead). Yep, it's pretty damn quiet except for that... and the sound of me laughing.
Cheers, y'all. It's been a lovely day; everything is going my way....
-G.

Well G., I see that you, like Trent, have no grasp of the difference between an adjective and an adverb.
See you later, whore.

"and a whole lotta haiku"
love it.
Glad to hear your doing well. Bastard. <3

Well, I hope we find out what was behind all that Def Leppard-ing a day or two ago. I heard Hysteria on the radio just now and thought of you guys.
Have fun tonight!

Glad you & D. get to hang for a bit, and that your move went well.
Been very very very busy lately, but wanted to pop in and say happy holidays to everyone here.
Hopefully next week, things back to "normal" as far as how I get to spend my free time.

Okay morning after. So did you kids have a good time at the show last night?
I’d not really heard anything about the Dresden Dolls other than they were on the first part of the tour with NIN. We got stuck with Mr. Swivel Hips of QOTSA in Chicago. >blech< Went to the Dolls website last night to kinda check them out and I really like what I’ve seen so far. Peaked my interest enough to want to buy their cd anyway. “Coin operated boy” is the cutest thing I’ve ever heard but Beer Activated Girl I thought was hilarious. A parody that maybe Gabriel can even laugh at.
And although I can’t say that I’m into the whole chick who doesn’t shave her pits thing, Amanda does have a very lovely shaped mouth. That boy of hers is really adorable too. Wishing now I lived anywhere remotely close that they would play instead of here in the Naval Lint Capitol of the World. But until that move happens, I need to live vicariously through you guys. So give good details on the show!

Jane? You want this one, or should I?
Posted by: Baal Glyttr | Dec 30, 2005 7:20:11 AM
Oh, please, Baal, you take it.

Now that our readers’ interest has been piqued, I feel it would be the peak of bitchiness to point out the malapropism now.
Posted by: Baal Glyttr | Dec 30, 2005 8:40:20 AM
Oh geez, kids, they're called homophones.
Posted by: maise | Dec 30, 2005 8:56:01 AM
Okay, so I stole this from ninspotting, and I can't believe I'm about to write this, but OMG, how fucking cute is Jeordie? I love it when the band reveals their inner dorks--LOVE IT.
Posted by: maise | Dec 30, 2005 9:11:30 AM
malapropisms... get it? Anyway.
:) I'm just being mean, Iris. I'm not *really* grammar police material.
maise! I think any male of the species born after the Summer of Love is a latent (if not overt) dork. Video games, D&D, Star Wars, Star Trek. Unavoidable in most instances.
Posted by: Baal Glyttr | Dec 30, 2005 9:45:22 AM
Oh! And on the tip of that... I just got my Netflix copy of Trekkies last night. Hilarious! I peed.
Tonight, it's The Eyes of Tammy Faye. Tomorrow, it's Tarnation. And then I get drunk.
Posted by: Baal Glyttr | Dec 30, 2005 9:49:10 AM
OMG, I LOVED Trekkies! Especially that one kid who was so meticulous about his costumes and always used $5 words he couldn't pronounce.
I love Star Trek...especially the old ones with William Shatner's staccato emoting...the husband and I just watched "The Wrath of Khan" a week ago or so. KHAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: maise | Dec 30, 2005 9:57:09 AM
Now we all know that Trent has an inner dork, but what is he a dork for? All we ever hear about is "video games" in a really general way. And now we know it's not Star Wars. What are the geeked-out skeletons in his closet? Anyone know?

One last thought before I return to dusting our filthy living room:
I'm a total dork for Eddie Izzard, and I'm very excited that a friend got me "Definite Article" on DVD...that's a new one for me. My husband would be in huge trouble if Eddie wanted me to run away with him...
Posted by: maise | Dec 30, 2005 10:15:34 AM
omg, did you see that terrible (but great) WWII film with Eddie Izzard and Matt LeBlanc? I can't remember the title, but I will go to my grave with the image of Eddie Izzard in a cocktail dress wielding a machine gun, his wig just coming off from the force of the airplane propellors.
In re: Trent's gaming jones. I bet he plays long-ass strategy games like Civilization and Master of Orion. Yeah, that OCD Napoleon would get off on orchestrating a whole galactic empire.
Posted by: Baal Glyttr | Dec 30, 2005 10:25:13 AM
No, I haven't seen the Eddie Izzard WWII film yet. He always comes off so weird on-screen...I think with the stand-up you get one idea about his personality, and then you see him in a film like "The Cat's Meow," where he's trying to be serious, and his performance seems so stiff. I don't know if he'll ever top "Dressed to Kill"--that destroys me every single time.
UGH, Civilization. My husband gets all into that, and then I can't get him to respond with more than one half-syllable at a time.
Me: Dinner's ready!
Him: Ungh.
Me: We need to leave now if we're going to be on time...
Him: Huh.
Me: The apartment's on fire!
Him: Uh.
I would weep for Trent if he really got into those.

You would like this Izzard film maise. It's not serious AT ALL. Well, almost. LeBlanc is a war hero who is hired by the Allied governments to infiltrate a Nazi factory where the Enigma code machines are produced. The only hitch is that all the employees of the factory are women (by design). Izzard is a London cabaret drag queen or something and is hired to teach LeBlanc and crew how to pass as chicks. He's hilarious.
Video games are the great entropic force of our time. I don't know how Trent manages his creative virility hitched to that yoke.

Okay so I can't hide my back woods red neck style ed-ja-ma-cay-shun. But that's no reason to be pointing it out all the time. I know you must be bored but really when it's such an easy target...how much fun is that?
Anyways, if you liked Trekkies then you should watch Trekkies 2. It brings back that same kid only all grown up now. And some chick actually married him. It's great. Come to think of it...wasn't that kid's name Gabriel?
I suck at video games but that doesn't stop me from trying. I've wanted to break a few controllers because that fucking bitch Lara Croft won't jump when she's supposed to or when the computer cheats (and we all know it does). But I rock at Lego Star Wars. I've got to keep it juvenile if I want a shot at winning.
Posted by: Iris | Dec 30, 2005 11:45:02 AM
I've seen Trekkies 2, and it's definitely worth watching just to see that kid again. You're right...his name *is* Gabriel! Hmmm...
As far as video/computer games go, I'm a fan of little inconsequential word games on Yahoo. And I wasn't half bad at "Spiderman," but I haven't played that in a long time.
Meanwhile, today is the gloomiest day EVER. Perfect day to have a hangover, and it's not even January 1 yet...

PLEASE, Gabriel. Brian is SO the hot one. That man is on fucking fire.
Posted by: Dierdre | Dec 30, 2005 1:33:54 PM
Brian sneaks away while Amanda stays and takes a picture with her.
AND she's got kick-ass stockings. GO TEAM AMANDA.

For the benefit of maise and Baal (and anyone else who might be interested in everyone's favorite executive transvestite), Eddie Izzard's "WWII movie" is called All the Queen's Men. I haven't yet seen that or The Cat's Meow, but I loved him in Shadow of the Vampire.
I've spent the last couple of days wallowing in geekiness, playing We Love Katamari (the sequel to Katamari Damacy) on my PS2 and Trauma Center: Under the Knife on my spankin'-new DS. It's a surgery sim, and it's so much fun. However, I've hit snags in both games, so I have to look up strategies. Hmph.

I feel you, Em. I remember fondly playing many a videogame whilst younger, always proclaiming that this one would be the game that I would solve without help...
And then I'd track down the walk-through when I got stuck. I've never been good at delaying gratification.

The Producers is the funniest shit EVAR. Especially the white and black pidgeon named Adolf. OMG.
(Just got back from watching said movie with my friend Cody for my b-day)
